2016 Olympics: Brazil may lift

Brazil visa requirements

FIRST STEP: Verify the type of Visa you are required to get according to the objectives for your trip.

2) Fill out the online form. You will need to upload the documents required for your type of visa, a recent passport-type photo (cannot be older than 6 months) that follows the ICAO standardand your signature.

It is mandatory that you upload all required documentation in order to apply. Failing to do so may result in a visa not being granted.

Note: BEFORE COMPLETING THE APPLICATION MARK THE BOX AS SHOWN BELLOW.

SECOND STEP: Print out the receipt, attach photo, purchase the money order (USPS Only) pertaining to your type of Visa and come to the Consulate to actually apply. It is mandatory that you bring hard copies of all required documents; even the ones you have already uploaded.

Citizens of Central African Republic, Kosovo, Nepal, Nigeria, North Korea and Senegal applying for a visa are subject to prior consultation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brazil. Consultation will take at least 5 additional business days to process the visa application.

Certain types of visa that require consultation to the Brazilian Immigration Authorities (such as a VITEM I for volunteers, VITEM VI for media correspondents or VIPER based on retirement) do not have specific processing timeframe. The analysis of the visa application in Brazil takes an average of 2 to 3 months.

You can apply in person, by mail or by visa agency.

ISSUING, DENYING, TYPE & DURATION OF A VISA: The decision to issue or refuse to issue a visa, its type and its duration is at sole discretion of the Consulate General based on reciprocity and Brazilian law. The Consulate General does not disclose the reasons for its decisions.

A visa shall be denied to any foreign national that, when submitting her/his application, behaves in an aggressive, insulting or disrespectful way towards the Consular Authority or any Consulate employees.

If you have hired a visa agency to submit your application(s) all questions concerning your visa(s) must be addressed directly to them.

The return method of passports and visas cannot be changed from its initial choice.
